Mathematics

These assessment objectives were removed from the SEA 2019 2023 Assessment Framework document. For the purpose of the SEA 2021-2023 Exams ONLY.

  1. Solve problems involving the multiplication of a fraction by a fraction

  2. Solve problems involving the multiplication of a fraction by mixed numbers.

  3. Divide a fraction by a fraction.

  4. Solve problems involving the multiplication of tenths by tenths.

  5. Solve real-life, one-step problems involving whole numbers, (including savings, salaries, wages, loans, simple interest, VAT).

  6. Solve real-life, multi-step problems involving whole numbers, (including savings, salaries, wages, loans, simple interest, VAT).

  7. Find the perimeters of simple composite figures that may be dissected into rectangles and squares.

  8. Solve problems involving perimeter of compound shapes.

  9. Develop and use formula to calculate the area of squares and rectangles.

  10. Calculate the areas of compound shapes that may be dissected into rectangles and squares.

  11. Identify the cubic centimetre and cubic metre (cm³ and m³) as the standard units for measuring volume.

  12. Calculate the volume of cubes and cuboids.

  13. State the relationship between the metric units of volume and capacity (e. g.1L = 1000 cm3).

  14. Solve problems involving volume/capacity.

  15. Calculate unknown mass/weight on a balance (including the use of algebraic reasoning).

  16. Match times shown on standard 24 hour digital clocks to the minute, and record the time.

  17. Solve problems involving time and other related concepts (using proportional reasoning).

Reduction in the number of test items (from 45 questions to 40):

Section II: from 20 items to 16

Section III: from 5 item to 4

Exam time remains the same 75 minutes.

English Language Arts

Proposed Revision to Reading Comprehension:

There is a reduction in the number of test items in each text type:

  • Fiction/Non-Fiction: from 10 to 7 test items

  • Poetry: from 10 to 7

  • Graphic: from 5 to 4

There are alterations in the thinking processes and the marks/scores as a consequence of the reduction in the items.

Creative Writing

Narrative Writing will be explicitly declared as the type of writing to be assessed in 2021
